Our History

The Association of Adventist Counsellors (AAC) was originally established to provide an association for Marriage and Family Therapists within the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Southern half of Queensland, Australia.

NOW

This original purpose has adapted to meet the changing target audience which has extended to include:

  • Professionals and Volunteers within the various roles of people helpers in relationship arenas e.g. Counsellors, Chaplains (in schools, hospitals, aged-care, etc), Psychologists, Nurses and other allied health professionals involved one-on-one with patients, Social Workers, Pastors, Pastoral Carers
  • People in training to be any of the above
  • Any people who have an interest in the area of relationships and who would enjoy learning skills and gaining a richer understanding of relationship therapies and research

While our Seminars are usually targeting clinical therapists, they are also open to anyone who would like to attend and gain the benefits of the presentations. Those who are members receive a discounted fee. There are a range of membership types depending on a mix of factors such as whether you are a qualified relationship therapist, a member of an Adventist faith community etc.

Would you like to join us?

You can join the AAC in two ways, one as a member or as a friend of AAC. Friend of AAC is a category of membership created to provide an opportunity for those who are either (a) Seventh-day Adventists but not involved in people helping professions or (b) people-helping professionals who are not Seventh-day Adventists but who are supportive of the aims and objectives of AAC. Both members and and friends pay a small fee each year which goes towards the mission of the AAC. Members and friends will be the first to be contacted regarding upcoming seminars and programs run by the AAC or that are endorsed by the AAC.
